Any update on 21.09? There are a few fixes in this version I am eager to implement and would prefer not to switch to the RC track? Hopefully this is about to go released soon?

I've been wondering about this as well. It's been pretty quiet around here, so development either isn't going at all, or they don't have many problems.

I just did the upgrade on my SG-3100, and other than it hanging during the upgrade, a reboot fixed it and it upgraded fine.

I don't currently see any standing issues.

My upgrade hung after this step:

Welcome to Netgate pfSense Plus 21.05.1-RELEASE...

        ...random: unblocking device.
        ELF ldconfig path: /lib /usr/lib /usr/lib/compat /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/compat/pkg /usr/lib/engines /usr/local/lib/compat/pkg /usr/local/lib/ipsec /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.32/mach/CORE
        Soft Float compatibility ldconfig path:
        done.

Removing vital flag from php74... done.

I've been checking-in on what is being offered on the 21.09rc line for the last few weeks to see if there have been some last min patches landed (incremented build dates -- there have been none). Today I checked-in and the router is not even offering 21.09, it's only offering 22.01dev. The optimist in me is hoping this is some kind of transitional step in making the final release available on the hardware.

@jd-0 was a thread around here, seems they posted on reddit that 21.09 not going to happen. But nothing here which is odd to be honest.

But yeah doesn't look like there is going to be a 21.09, and next release is scheduled for 22..

edit: Here is the thread where it was discussed and link to the reddit post

@johnpoz Thanks. That does seem a little strange. I'm fine with 21.05.1 as it goes. Though I'm rather glad I didn't elect to try out 21.09 as I could have ended up "marooned" on it.

@jd-0 @johnpoz It's even more strange as no post in the forums about that (why Reddit though?) and still having the subforum about 21.09 snapshots. It almost seems as all Netgate staff is ignoring that release and simply don't talk about it anymore. Very weird.

@jegr Considering Netgate's track record of senior staff communications, perhaps silence is the best option here.

The 21.09 release has been postponed. There are a few reasons for this such as some issues found in late-stage testing. We want to make sure the next release will be a quality release. There is high focus on 22.01. We are confident it will be worth the wait.

@dennis_s Thanks Dennis. This isn’t an issue facing me, but thought I’d go ahead and ask it: For those who took a dive and installed 21.09beta || RC — will they have a path to 22 without reloading? I know any beta or RC comes with a page-full of disclaimers but hoping this won’t dampen enthusiasm for testing.

That shouldn't be an issue at all. They can go to the update page and pick the 22.01 snapshot branch and upgrade to those if they want, or wait and upgrade to 22.01 when it releases.

@dennis_s Shouldn't we rename this subforum in 22.01 Release? I mean, 21.09 is not coming, sooo ;)
