State Type: Synproxy in firewall rule to access my Web Server causes access problems.
-
Hi.
Yesterday our ISP had a lot of problems & our internet access was flapping between "connected" and "not connected" states for at least 2 hours.Whe the problem was finally resolved some customers complain about they can't access our website.
I dig inside my firewall rules & NAT configuration trying to find something that was changed recently.
I could find nothing. Y tried to access website via a VPS using curl, and get nothing at all. Zero, no traffic. Then I do some packet capture at pfSense and I figure out that packages was recived by pfSense, but my webserver never answer.
double checking the firewall rules that manage that specific traffic I found an very old config that was made by my antecesor. That was the State Type: Synproxy. I changed that to: Keep and the server start to server webpages through that WAN access.
the odd thing here is that configuration was working ok by years and suddenly stop working.
Pheraps there is no connection between the ISP problems and my own access problem
Any clue or hint about what could be happening here?
Thanks
