Open VPN Client Gateway requires Manual Restart

Whenever my router restarts, the gateway I've set up to route through open VPN says it is down. To get it working again, I have to manually restart the gateway service, then turn off the LAN rule that routes traffic through that gateway and turn it on again. Any ideas why this is happening? Manual interventions after a power outage are not ideal.
