Installation of new development version 0.1.6 WireGuard package
-
hey @cmcdonald
I saw over here that you released a new experimental version of the WG package. I had a bit of trouble installing it on my 6100.I tried just doing
pkg add https://github.com/theonemcdonald/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard/releases/download/v0.1.6/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard-0.1.6.pkg
on top of my 0.1.5 installed from the standard repo. But it seemed to fail.Any special instructions for installing this? Do I need to manually remove the 0.1.5 pkg first? What about the kernel module - it seems to be the same version, so I assume no need to install that?
Thanks

Hi,
I just installed this version. Make sure "Keep Configuration" is checked in WireGuard settings (VPN/WireGuard/Settings). I then removed the old version using Package Manager (System/Package Manager/Installed Packages). After that, I did the pkg add for pfSense-pkg-WireGuard-0.1.6.pkg and it grabbed the current dependencies. I had to restart WireGuard once installed. Works for me :)

Yeah ok, I manually removed all traces of the 0.1.5 and required modules, rebooted, and then reinstalled from the console with:
# pkg add https://github.com/theonemcdonald/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard/releases/download/v0.1.6/wireguard-kmod-0.0.20211105.pkg # pkg add https://github.com/theonemcdonald/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard/releases/download/v0.1.6/wireguard-tools-lite-1.0.20210914_1.pkg # pkg add https://github.com/theonemcdonald/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard/releases/download/v0.1.6/pfSense-pkg-WireGuard-0.1.6.pkg
All working fine now

@luckman212 It's now appearing in the pfSense package manager, at least for 2.6.0-devel.
