CE and Plus software differences

Hi,
I'm currently using the Community edition of the pfSense. I'm happy with it and because I want to save some time I've developed some automation scripts to help me set it up (webscraping mostly).

Now I would like to buy a Netgate 1100 device and give it a go. But Im really concerned if my scripts will continue to work on shipped Plus versions.

Are there any large structural/architectonic differences from the point of software and webgui?
Are these editions developed completely separately or the Plus contains CE as it is and just adds something extra?

Is the Plus edition provided on AWS marketplace the exact one edition as shipped with the hardware ? (so I can give it a go for a ride on trial period and then buy a HW when everything is ok?) If not, are there any other options how to just try Plus version without paying for HW ?

I know, a lot of questions, still thanks for answering any of them! :D
