      Hello everyone,

      I want access to my house network but I don't want to use a VPN, I want to log into a website using a browser - either on a phone or PC and I want to get access to my network. Can I accomplish this using captive portal in pfSense? If so, any help or links to guide would be appreciated.

      Thanks

        Why - it takes a few minutes to setup, and once setup its click on your phone or pc and your connected, and would be able to access anything you want on your home network while remote.

        captive portal is not something you would use on wan side of pfsense.

          @johnpoz I already have VPN (WireGuard) access to my house and I agree it's to most efficient. I just want to play with another way to access my network from outside. Besides security, any other drawback to having captive portal on the WAN side? How about if I use complex password?

          Thanks

            @esojmc https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/captiveportal/index.html#not-capable-of-reverse-portal

            A reverse portal, requiring authentication for traffic coming into a local network from the Internet, is not possible.
