setting up firewall for remote desktop

hi I want to make it so that I can make the Remote Desktop work nor I am traveling it works as long as I am on the inside but as soon as I go on the van side it does not get connected
i can also read myself to fol recommend VPN
where do you want to set up my new netgate 3100 so I can create a vpn for it and access my desktop on my home PC windows 10 PRO 21H2
