Remote Access Wireguard with High Availability Setup

Curious if anyone has gotten this working properly, since right now Wireguard doesn't do XMLRPC sync to a CARP configured node. Is there any way to get something reliably working so that if a node were to go down the other could take over? Obviously the config settings would have to match on both machines, but I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the best way to do this.

Isn't even strictly required for my WG needs, just something I've been thinking about.
