upgrading switches and setting up Plans
-
So I currently have a dumb switch (TrendNet TEG-S24DG) and a Cisco 3750 10/100 switch. I want to set up VLANs to separate various parts of my network:
- IOT
- Security Cams (POE, wifi and ethernet) and server
- Home network and NAS
- Possibly network for kids??
I am running PFSense on a micro computer with 4 LAN ports (2 or 3 free ports). I have two Ubiquit AP (one Lite and one LR).
It is my understanding that I can't just dedicate one Port off the PFSense machine to one VLAN and connect the dumb switch? It would be nice to keep my switch as it works great.
I found some a used Unify M/N US-48 port switches online for around $200. I do not have experience with these, but it seems like it would be easy to configure with the Unify software I am already using. Anyone have experience with these switches?
Should I look at replacing the Cisco 3750? it is much harder to configure and I was concerned of security issues with it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cisco 3750
How are you at using a command line. Catalyst switches are configured in Cisco's IOS and you'll likely need some training to use it. I got started with training at work on Adtran gear, with AOS that was pretty much a clone of IOS. I later got my CCNA routing and switching. IOS is NOT intuitive.
