Help creating Vlan
-
Hey all, I’m new here and sorta a novice with pfsense, so apologies if this is a dumb question.
So I have a pfsense server running on an older super micro server behind a Aris T25 cable modem with service from Xfinity (comcast). When I set up pfsense it automatically picks up a ipv6 address as well as an ipv4. Everything works fine with the settings created with the setup wizard.
LAn is set up with dhcp 10.0.0.0/24 with a track interface for dhcp6 to wan. Pfsense assigns out ipv4 addresses and everything works fine. The problem: I’d like to create a separate vlan (vlan2) for my cameras and DVR network, I have tried creating the vlan and assigning it to the LAN network interface with a dhcp server configured and running for it.
I have an older Cisco catalyst 2960 that - to the best of my knowledge have configured to switch vlan2 to the ports with the cameras connected.
But I can’t get pfsense to pick up the devices on vlan2 and assign a dhcp lease. If I turn off dhcp6 on lan or change LANs dhcp track interface ipv6 settings I loose connection to the internet.
I tried to copy the configuration of LANs ipv6 to vlan2 and it says that it’s already in use and can’t be done.
I’ve tried opening up vlan2 firewall all the way.
I think there’s something I’m doing wrong with dhcp6 on the vlan2 that isn’t allowing the devices to talk to the server to get an address.
I’ll upload some screenshots of the interfaces if that will be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
