Problem Install Nanobsd
-
I tried to install nanobsd 20090803-1341-nanobsd.img.gz. (like install M0n0wall)
However, the constraints encountered in the bootstrap loader does not run.
There is a solution??? ::) -
Assuming I'm using a CF reader attached to my PC-BSD box via USB, I copy pfSense nanobsd to the CF card with:
zcat pfSense-1.2.3-2g-20090805-0710-nanobsd.img.gz | dd of=/dev/da0 obs=64k

I try with IBM 3Gb HD, install pfSense-1.2.3-1g-20090805-0008-nanobsd.img.gz. I still have constraints on the bootstrap loader does not run.
On M0n0wall install can be done on HD more than 2 gb,
but I understand the possible errors Pfsense install Nanobsd have on myself. If you have any experience can tell in this forum? :o

Do I understand that you're attempting to install the embedded image on a spinning hard drive? Is this a CF micro drive or a full sized HD?

In experiment I install using Full HD, because I think between CF Micro not much different with Full HD. And I also think Pfsense NanoBSD, not limited by Micro or full HD.

I suspect the problem is that the bootloader is expecting a CF card, not a (presumably IDE) disk drive.

The image shouldn't care. I install nanobsd on a microdrive which is essentially a small HDD.
what I did was gunzip the img file than ran dd with no options…dd if=filename of=/dev/sdd
Worked fine for me.

Ok. I consider it wrong in the procedure to install pfsense Nanobsd image as the install procedure M0n0wall. Are there other ways to install pfsense in Nanobsd than on the way as M0n0wall .????? ::)

I had an issue where the install would error out after so many bytes and found someone with instructions on formatting the cf card but stopping the format right after you start and closing out of the windows format window and then begin the nano installation and it then proceeds normally using physdiskwrite.

Yes … I also use physdiskwrite - u space for more than 2 GB.
However, after several HD formats are still the result bootstrap loader can not run normally.I install the os freebsd / tools / nanobsd, has been running well.
But up to 05082009, when trying to image with pfsense nanobsd can not walk.
