where is my 2nd gateway?

So I have been running pfSense with HAProxy for a while now with one gateway and several servers behind it. Works beautifully.

Now I have set up a 2nd gateway (via a OpenVPN). The interface is "up", the gateway is "online" and traffic goes through it from one particular local subnet. So this, too, is working fine.

Now I want to create another HAProxy frontend on the 2nd gateway for incoming traffic to be treated by HAProxy.

But when I create a new frontend, I am presented with several interfaces to choose from (i.a. the one on which gateway1 sits), but the interface on which gateway2 sits isn't there!?!

What am I missing?

Can I not set up a frontend on a VPN interface? Or is something else the matter?
