I made a PR that gives the Services Status widget live update capability. See details at https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense/pull/4589

Would appreciate if anyone would help test it. You can use the System Patches package and add commit ffbf44a001962bf38f615dc70681c9ca6fd59be2

(A reboot of the firewall should not be required- maybe just a force-refresh of the browser page to update the cache)

Here's a little video demonstrating how the widget looks & behaves now. This is 2 separate browser windows side by side to show the live updates and mutex handler on the action buttons.

@dobby_ Glad you were enjoying the feature. To be honest, I'd love to get some feedback from the Netgate team on the original patch, since I never got any comments on the PR. I had hoped this would have been accepted/merged by now but before I rewrite it again I'd like to know if there's any hope for it to be accepted. @jimp ?

I don't know of any reason why it wouldn't be accepted if it was able to merge cleanly. It may not have been reviewed because it needs to be looked at by someone much more familiar with that code than I am, and it may have just slipped by unnoticed since we've all been pretty busy working on moving things to FreeBSD 14 and PHP 8.1.

@jimp Ok in that case I will get going with a 23.01 snapshot and try to update this to merge cleanly. Thanks

OK, fair warning though it likely would not make it into 23.01 because we are primarily focused on the FreeBSD 14/PHP 8.1 stuff so adding in anything else that isn't a bug fix is way on the back burner for now.

@luckman212 said in Live refresh for dashboard Services Status widget:

Cool then we get "live widget updates", thank you both also.
