I set up a new pfsense install in a computer that has dual NIC; 1 for WAN and 1 for LAN.

pfSense LAN is configured as 10.10.10.1. I'd like to be able to apply a VLAN to this interface, I know that I can create VLANs based on that interface but can't directly add one to that.

          hi there,
afaik a vlan needs a parent lan that "carries" your vlan(s).
In case your pfsense does the routing and other typical network services, why the need to assign just 1 vlan to one of two nics?
Have you considered using a switch with vlan ability behind your lan nic, then configure as many vlans as needed?

@prtonguy77 Just assign a vlan to that interface and give it the IP info you want. Leave the parent interface blank.
I've done this a few times before. I just name the parent interface "Trunk" and use the vlan as needed.
I never needed just one vlan on it but it'll still work.
