Connection to openvpn cloud server - use connector or user ovpn file?

Trying to use Openvpn cloud server with pfsense as a client. They recommend using the connector ovpn file and manually entering the different parts rather than using the client import.

I tried both the connector ovpn file and setting up a user and using that ovpn file but both times I used the client import and am not connecting.

Shouldn't doing it as a user account work?
