Pfsense 2.6 on ESXI 6.7 Dell PE R320 | vm's unable to connect on reboot
-
Hey everyone,
I have installed pfsense 2.6 as a vm on ESXI 6.7 hosted on a Dell PE R320.
The server has 4 nics Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5720 Gigabit EthernetVmware Network setup:
Pfsense --> WAN (vswitch--> uplink --> vmnic3) --> PPOE -->Bell Hub4000
Pfsense--> LAN (vswitch --> uplink --> vmnic1) --TRUNK--> TPlink switch-->10.20.240.1 /24Linuxvm1 (GUI) Ubuntu 20.04 -->LAN port group-->10.240.20.5
Linuxvm2 Ubuntu20.0.4 --> LAN port group --> 10.240.20.10LAN portgroup has a vlan id 4095 to act as trunk and applied to LAN vswitch
It was working fine with this setup, I had the external WAN IP showing up with PPOE and I was able to access pfsense web GUI from Linuxvm1.
I rebooted the pfsense vm and now I am not able to access the web interface from Linuxvm1.
Linuxvm1 and 2 have connectivity between each other.
Also I now don't have the WAN address anymore as wellI do have some vlan's setup on the pfsense but just wanted to try to keep the scope as basic as possible to the issue.
Now this has happened to me before as well where the Bell technician accidentally pulled plug of my servers during installation and I had similar issue at that time. At that time I am not entirely sure what exactly i did right, but I did remove all the network adpaters from host and re added them.
Would like to troubleshoot this properly this time with the help of the community. Thank you in advance for looking into my problem, please let me know if I need to add any further information.

Just an update, I had to delete the LAN switch and the related portgroups to be recreated in order to get it working.
Not sure if anyone here is experiencing the same issue ?

Would be helpful if anyone know why this would be happening ?

Are you passing the Broadcom NICs through to pfSense? It looks like you're probably not but if you are there was an issue we've seen with that driver that required the NIC to be in promiscuous mode. That may be getting reset when pfSense is rebooted.
