    Hello fellow Netgate community members,

I recently had to remove a static IP to MAC address mapping when a family member switched jobs and returned her work laptop. I originally had this static IP set up in Squidguard to allow a specific work tool called teams as approved access and to allow everything needed with it. I forgot to delete the target categories I had set up for this IP address, again I did delete the static mapping.

What occurred is that the URL guard stopped working because of the invalid IP address now in the config.

I wanted to take the time to report this issue as a suggestion. If an invalid ip address is listed that squidguard needs a data validation clause to ignore it and continue using the URL blocker with the valid addresses. Once I noticed this when a URL was all the sudden accessible again and Squidguard showed still running however, URLs were being allowed that were configured to be blocked. Again, Squidguard showed green and running. However on reapply of configuration to test why URLs are not being blocked it showed the hidden error and issue "invalid ip address." Once this old target categories was removed the system normalized and URL blocker worked again.

Thanks for taking the time to make this software and to read this.
