Youtube blocking
-
In this hello, recently there was a need to block youtube in the office.
And then I decided to use the pfblockerng dnsbl package tool
added dns address to existing one
a group of blocked sites but that's bad luck youtube stopped pinging but youtube still opens on users' devices.
Tell me the recipe for blocking youtube with the ability to configure exceptions. -
@shkiber have you tried blocking the autonomous system number (ASN) for face book as well?
-
facebook is blocked for me only through the browser I want to find solutions for applications on smartphones in the future
-
my head hurts only about youtube because the blocking of this platform does not work correctly

dnsbl
DNS blocking only works if a device uses pfsense as the DNS. You can try to force all devices on you network to do that by trying to block alternatives.
The alternative is to block all of face book and Meta Platforms IP addresses. That is what ASN can help you with. See https://www.cidr-report.org/as2.0/autnums.html

so I need to set up dns on pfsense
-
According to the pfSense (pfS) docs at;
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/recipes/dns-redirect.html
this should direct all user DNS requests through pfS.
As for the youtube block, sorry I can't help you there.
Take Care and Enjoy!

I found out something lately.
As we are all using "pfBlockerNG", I had to "play" with this 'audio video' option :See here to make that option work again :
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/176492/pfblockerng-devel-v3-1-0_9-v3-1-0_15/14?_=1672127400173
it resolved the issue for me, and left the option activated (selected).
Later on, somewhat during Christmas or so, I discovered that the Youtube app was working just fine on my Phone, but the app wouldn't play any videos ... A non-wanted WTF moment kicked in.
Then I remembered I was asking pfblockerng to filter 'audio video' sites.
I de selected that option + force reload , and done, Youtube worked again.
