After upgrading to 22.05, Traffic quota doesnt work
-
Hi,
I had a working pfsense CE 2.5.2 with a captive protal and freeradius as accounting backend everything works as expected until recently I tried to upgrade to pfsense plus 22.05 now the quota (maximum traffic per user that supposed to be read from freeradius config) doesnt apply.
Back then when a user authenticated through captive portal there was a file created in /var/log/radacct/datacounter/daily(depends on specified period)/used-octets-username-xxxxxxxx
this file updated when the client used traffic but now it always show 0.Thanks in advance

Did you see this thread? Seems to be the same issue.

@fsc830
I didnt see that but after you suggest it I applied the patch and problem still exists!
Dont know what to do -
The patch was made for pfSensePlus, no idea, if it fixes the issue at CE edition too.
Did you check with the other commands mentioned in thst thread?Regards

Read, do your own testing, and do what's been said here :
FreeRadius and quotas, doesn't work since 22.05
I'm using 22.05 + FreeRadius right now, with a captive portal, and quotas are working for me.

CE edition
The CE edition (2.6.0) uses the ipfw 'old' captive portal firewall.
22.05 switches over to an adapted version of pf (and ditched ipfw) : pf is now also "MAC aware". -
@fsc830
Im using pfsense+ 22.05
Apperantly should revert back to 2.6.0 -
If you're able to do what been explained in the thread mentioned above, 22.05 works fine.

@gertjan
Sorry Im a little lost
this is the first time Im patching pfsense.
Beside using the patch mentioned in the thread should I do something more ?Regards
-
@giyahban : Then all should be fine. The patch should fix it.
I misunderstood the "I tried to upgrade..." as "upgrade was not successfull" and as a outcome the quota issue occurs.Regards

Read also https://forum.netgate.com/topic/174489/22-05-cp-clients-have-connectivity-issues-after-x-amount-of-time/44 ( the entire thread ).
The issue was : every portal users should have its own "pair of pipes". This isn't the case on 22.05, they wind up all sharing the same first pipe. When he first user gets logged out, the pipe is destroyed, the pipe every other user is also using : oops situation guranteed.
Solution is in the thread.Btw : I get it : install 22.05 and now the portal is somewhat broken (depending your needs). You need to 'patch' yourself some files to make it work again ....
