        @jonathanlee https://dsi.ut-capitole.fr/documentations/cache/squidguard_en.html

This is not the official SquiGuard homepage, but only an happy user's page :
official homepage was http://www.squidguard.org. It seems out of service. Mirko Lorenz created a mirror here. SquidGuard is a redirector which uses sleepycat's version of Berkeley Database
        Its authors are
        Pål Marius Baltzersen
        Lars-Erik Håland

but I have a quick question,

Why does the website show up inside of Virus total as a fully working website?

          Can web anonymizer work?

If this no longer available in the US and blocked out? Why would they block a URL blocker website however leave really bad websites running like Chaturbate or megaupload running? I am confused here, if it was down why does Virus total list it as running?

@nogbadthebad I am worried the package will be gone forever, it works so well once you get Squid running and block out DoH from running. It is the perfect URL blocker. Amazing software. I am so thankful for it.

@nogbadthebad I can see the last time it had a snapshot was Aug 9th 2022

All the links on the website still work if you use the wayback machine if you need something. We have to save this software!!! It took me so many hours to get it to work and once I got it working and blocked out DoH the website is no longer working, it worries me.

I saved the download of the open-source software just in case zip of tar gz file
              squidGuard-1.3.tar.zip

Google Drive Link to a working URL blacklist for Pfsense Squidguard package that I use for a 2100 Max:
              https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KsE8H5Q_wa7cT2knU0iQynCQ_A_xPIVc/view?usp=share_link

The official source of the blacklist listed above:
              http://dsi.ut-capitole.fr/blacklists/index_en.php

Keep in mind the list above is the pfsense reducted version for lower memory firewalls:

I don't have a clue to be honest as I don't run Squid.

@nogbadthebad I love Squid, I think that is why I am so worried about the website for Squidguard. :(

@jonathanlee I'll be honest with you. Squid and/or SquidGuard is not a supported package from the viewpoint of constant care from the community when it comes to features and reliability. You and I, on a separate thread, saw that there was a coding issue within Squid that prevented Youtube restricted mode set to 'None' from working. It's a simple fix but it's obvious no one uses squid(at least on pfsense) to a degree where this error would've been caught.
If you really need site categorization then a commercial solution is the obvious choice. UT1 is great but like all free services, it takes money to maintain. It can be gone tomorrow.
Squid with its many challenges is honestly great but IMO, i treat it more like a scalpel than a blunt instrument. What I mean by this is if i had a security policy where i needed very tight control of how servers communicate (DMZ zone or Web-App zone) I for sure would deploy a proxy. I control the destination sites so i know if something is broken because of squid I dont mind fixing it. This is probably the better approach than just having Squid on your LAN and now you have to fix every single website that stops working or doesnt load correctly. You also have to deal with loading certs on mobile devices and IoT devices. I would not use Squid at all in that capacity.

                    Wireless: Unifi, Aruba IAP

@michmoor I have seen the package updated over the past 2 years. I think it was 2 times inside of pfsense. We just have to be patient. I was so used to having possible Cisco Pits with 2hr response 4 hr resolve tickets for so many years that normal times are weird to me, I am slowly getting used to it. They will update it after the holidays. They have more time off than most people.

You can check if the website is down for everyone or just for you by using a website monitoring tool like Down For Everyone Or Just Me (https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/). Alternatively, you can try accessing the website from a different device or network to see if the issue is specific to your connection.
