I added IPv6 functionality to my existing remote access VPN using one of my delegated /64 prefixes and enabled automatic gateway creation for the interface. While the interface shows as up and has an address ending in ::1, under Gateways, it shows both the gateway and gateway monitor as the ::2 address of the same prefix. While it functions fine this way, and I can set the monitor IP to the ::1 address, I want to understand why it isn't using the interface address as the gateway and gateway monitor by default like it does with IPv4.
