Openvpn interface and softflowd

I have an openvpn server instance assigned to an interface. I then have that interface selected as the sole source for collecting netflow data.
The softflowd process is up and running with the expected cmdline but this results in no netflow data. If I select a regular interface, it works.

Should it be possible to collect netflow data from an interface that's assigned to a vpn server instance?
