Couldn't connect to my VPN on holidays
-
hey guys, looking for some things to look at. I have 2 road warrior VPNs, both created the same, one to my house, one to my parents. when I was in Europe, I could connect to my parents no problem. when I tried to connect to my home VPN, it would try to connect and just stay on waiting for reply. anything I can look for? when I am home, my VPN works fine. not even sure where to start. could it be a dns setting on MY home network or pfblockerng that I use and my parents don't?
thinking about it more, I was blocking foreign IPs on my network with pfblockerng. that being said, I have an esim card from a local provider that I tried using on my cell phone here and my VPN still doesn't connect but parents does.

This would be the first I'd think about.
Check your Geo settings for "Top Spammers" and "Europe". -
pretty sure that was it. is there any way to keep pfblocker on but let my devices bypass pfblocker? like by mac address or something, even if i was in Europe?

@xman111
No, the firewall cannot see MAC addresses from remote devices. This is only the case for directly connected devices.Configure pfBockerNG accordingly so that it doesn't block IP ranges of countries where you spent your holidays.
Go to Firewall > pfBlockerNG > IP > GeoIP > Europe and unselect countries, which you intend to visit.
Also check the Top Spammers page. Some countries are listed there as well. -
that will work, thanks for your time, really appreciate it!

@xman111 you could try:
-
set up a dynamic DNS client on your laptop
-
set all pfBlocker feeds to Alias Native instead of Deny
This lets you create you own rules and you can put a rule allowing your dyndns hostname above them. pfBlocker has a drop down option for ordering rules also…I just prefer more control.
