What would cause these logs ? The client seems to be connected all the time in the GUI, and is flowing traffic.

I see these too, for all my tunnels.

@pwood999 said in Repeating connect & disconnect in logs.:

What would cause these logs ?

          Not what : who 😊
And the answer is : you.

When you look at the dashboard GUI, you probably have the OpenVPN widget showing info like this :

          734a74e2-1e1a-4cb4-9ae2-c856dc0a9664-image.png

This info gets updates every x seconds.
How does the widget knows who is connected ?

By asking the OpenVPN server process, using the local management channel !

The OpenVPN process logs these management "state and status" questions.

Edit : and where are the logs ??

@Gertjan In my case that is wrong, this happens with my pfsense as a client, connected to a server, no individual users. However, my pfSense client status page shows no disconnection.
And there is no need to be aggressive and demeaning to someone asking for help and instruction here.

              @petrt3522

Didn't know you were using a OpenVPN client.
I used the wrong reply button - should have replied to @pwood999
@pwood999 522 was talking about a OpenVPN server process.

              /var/etc/openvpn/server1/sock

              These lines :

              Jul 18 13:12:55 pfSense-MX80 openvpn[5843]: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'state 1'
              Jul 18 13:12:55 pfSense-MX80 openvpn[5843]: MANAGEMENT: CMD 'status 2'

is the widget questioning for the list with connected users.
The 'socket' (file based) is only available locally.

I'm not using the pfSense OpenVPN as a client myself, so, in that case, I can't tell, but I presume the widget can also connect to the openvpn client service socket and collect data about the Openvpn link.
              Again : presuming here.

              Btw : no 😵 intended.

@petrt3522 the subject is wrong :

Repeating connect & disconnect in logs.

These log lines do not show any "OpenVPN" reconnections.

Edit : and where are the logs ??
