An unexplained dump or clearing of the resolver cache on 20230903.0446 following which the cache recommenced from empty.

The dev load had been up for 2+ days when all cache information restarted again. No associated restarts or any notices in any log file or indeed anything of note in the system log.

The resolver log itself is of no help as it only reached back to 0150hrs this morning (resolver.log.6) but I can say the cache was normal at 2106hrs the night before, so it was dumped somewhere in this period.

I have been monitoring the cache since a previous apparent (but not proven) zeroing of the resolver cache on this dev version but at that point I had no previous data to go one.

Neither RRset or message cache size was anywhere close to a set limit. Whilst I have had the resolver cache reset on previous loads it was always associated with a failure or issue elsewhere. This is the first time I have seen a 'stealthy' zeroing of the cache data... shame it missed the resolver log period.

I will increase my retained logs from 7 to 12, in an effort to catch it should it happen again but I will also update to the latest Dev load, as this one is done.

      ☕️
