windows firewall
-
Hi all;
Maybe this is a stupid question, but do i need to shut my windows firewall off after setting up pfsense?
Just a question raised my mind and i couldn't find an answer on the net.
Thanks in advance. -
No.
All your local LAN devices can talk to each other without passing by pfSense. Proof : disconnect pfSense from the LAN network and you can still access your NAS, printer, TV, doorbell etc.
The firewall on your device (PC) protects you against your other devices (if needed).If you really trust all your other LAN devices, well, you could shut down your firewall.
What what you you gain ?
And also : if you were mistaken, what do you loose ? -
