Yes, I feel this is in error. I've never spammed anyone. Explain please.

@Guemes And what IP is that specifically - can you PM it too me.

I just looked over all your past connections, and none of them are on the black list that I have access to.. But there are many from your country that are blocked.. Because they send a lot of spam..

Just my tough luck then? Not complaining at you personally, but blocking an entire country just seems a surprisingly blunt instrument for a company as prestigious as Netgate.

Thanks for replying anyway. I'll work around with a vpn or get help another way.

Yeah. Spamhause ZEN has it listed. I forced a reset of my IP assignment and the second one came up, too. My ISP recently started assigning a different block of addresses to my region than they have for the past few years so who knows where they came from. They offer a fast, reliable, and inexpensive connection but their support is nearly nonexistent so I'm probably SOL for a while at least. It's just a bit of a hassle as I have to change some configs to post here... not the end of the world or anything.

              Thanks for the suggestion.

@Guemes said in your IP address has been banned ??:

                but blocking an entire country

Not blocking ALL IPs from the country, just specific ranges of IPs - there are just quite a few netblocks from your Country is all that I saw. I am quite sure there are many great users in your country.. But is is also a hot spot source of spam from many an IP block.. I mean a lot!!

I have not bothered to look to the total IP space that could come from this country - but I would have to guess that the number being blocked from the total number of IPs is fairly low..

I had at one point asked if there was a way to get a report of posters from like the whole IP range of the country.. At one point I was curious if we even had one legit user from there ;) Since it seemed like every single spam post was seeing was coming from there.

The typical user of the forums probably has no idea the actual amount of spam that gets posted here.. Before tools went into place, and started blocking whole net ranges it was insane.. If you just blocked 1.2.3.x, 2 minutes later 1.2.3.y would post something then .z and etc.. When some spam from a well known spammer country hits - its just easier to to block the whole /24 etc..

                  Spamhause ZEN has it listed

Spamhaus Zen will have most residential/non-business/dynamic IPs because it includes the PBL list as set by various ISPs:
                  https://www.spamhaus.org/pbl/
"The Spamhaus PBL is a DNSBL database of end-user IP address ranges which should not be delivering unauthenticated SMTP email to any Internet mail server except those provided for specifically by an ISP for that customer's use. The PBL helps networks enforce their Acceptable Use Policy for dynamic and non-MTA customer IP ranges.

PBL IP address ranges are added and maintained by each network participating in the PBL project, working in conjunction with the Spamhaus PBL team, to help apply their outbound email policies."

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
