PPPoE WAN does not restart correctly after reconfiguring interfaces.

@stephenw10
Unfortunately, yes, the issue still exists.
I am using an unsupported CARP configuration to maintain PPPoE links automatically. There are two firewalls, and the parent PPPoE interfaces on both are configured with static local IP addresses like 10.0.111.2 and 10.0.111.3, with a VIP in CARP mode set to 10.0.111.1. The primary idea is that the master firewall automatically establishes the PPPoE link when it becomes the master. This part works fine. The problem occurs when I unplug the power cable from the ISP’s dumb switch, and it always results in two mpd daemons running simultaneously. -
Urgh, that's in the new 24.08 snapshot?

@stephenw10
Yes.24.08-DEVELOPMENT (amd64) built on Wed Sep 25 9:00:00 EEST 2024 FreeBSD 15.0-CURRENT

Hmm, let me try to replicate that...

@stephenw10
Any luck? -
Not yet. I'll try to get the config back in place today.
-
In April/May I gave a pretty precise problem description including a hint on which files probably contained the error. Was this really just for the bin? Is there any better way to address bugs in the paid product than this forum?

You can open a bug report directly: https://redmine.pfsense.org/
At the time there were numerous back end changes going into 24.08 and it was felt that any issues would need to be confirmed as still present after those went in.
Since that does seem to be the case in at least one variant of this issue I'll raise it again and try to replicate it locally.

@pFence
hmm ok…
And you also can replicate this on the latest snapshot? -
Be very to know that if you're able to test it.
-
@w0w
I do not have an extra machine to test snapshot images. I would be willing to replace my current production software only if a bugfix was to be verified. -
@pFence
Did you create redmine bug report already?
