I'm using pfsense+ 23.09.1-RELEASE (amd64) on Netgate SG-2440. I have configured the Captive Portal on a VLan I created. When someone connects to that VLan, the captive portal pops up perfectly for the user to enter the voucher code. The issue is that the user can receive and send WhatsApp messages and also make WhatsApp calls. Is there any solution, or has someone encountered the same problem?

Maybe its the smartphone which detects the lack of wifi connectivity and still uses mobile data in the background? Have you tried explicitly turning off mobile data?

@stephenkwabena said in WhatsApp messages and Calls on Captive Portal without login:

            Yes even on flight mode

Flight mode has to shut down all radio devices : the 4G/5G modem, Wifi, Bluetooth etc.
Whatsapp still working ? Curious to know what phone you use ....

@Gertjan what I meant is that on flight mode when I turn on WiFi, to access the hotspot 😄
