      Hello.

I have been working with BandwidthD and Darkstat.

BandwidthD only see traffic from my phisycal interface "LAN" won't show my vlans, the report is good and can save history, if u reboot u can keep the records daily.

      Can BandwidthD see VLANs?

Darkstat can see VLANs but show WANs IPs which I don't need, but cannot keep history, if u reboot u loose your data.

Other tools we have to see my bandwidth by user?

      Regards!!!

      Pfsense 2.7.2CE.

Depends on what you are trying to see and do with that data.
For reporting there is only bandwidthD but bandwidthD can only listen on a single interface
For no reporting but a bit more details of the flow, there is ntopng which can listen on multiple interfaces.

There arent alot of great choices available. A more robust solution would be to use a netflow collector.

@michmoor Hi, I want to see how much bandiwidth each user consume daily.
Like bandwidthD report and can have history, but limited.
What I see is that we need to use external tools , nothing built in on pfsense?
          Regards!!!

It seems that ipfix is coming to pfSense 24.03.

I'm currently using softflowd to export Netflow V9 to a Graylog server, it works, but I want to test the new ipfix when it becomes available.

dead on arrival, nowhere to be found.

@mcury Im using softflowD and prtg with the netflow sensor.

@mcury i did see the redmine for pflow but confused as to what it means. Does this mean pfsense would get a builtin collector one day or is this just another avenue to export flows?

                I'm also confused about that..

@mcury I feel it has to be a netflow collector otherwise whats the point if you have softflow. Could be optimistic i guess.

If it is a netflow collector, I don't think I'll use it since it will increase the writes in the storage and I'll probably disable it.

If it works as an exporter, I'll compare it with softflowd, if it uses less resources and all.

                      same as well.

but back to the OP 😊

There are no builtin tools or package that will give you what you want. You need to stand up a netflow collector.

@michmoor I mean tools inside pfsense, netflow run outside pfsense.
