I have an SG-2100 router. I followed the Netgate forum to figure out how to configure LAN Port 4 on the router as a physical VLAN port. I’m having a bit of trouble getting internet access when plugged into that port. I have only 1 rule for the firewall to allow all traffic. Not sure what I am missing. I can ping 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 etc. but If I got to a browser I can’t get any web pages to show up.

@wayneflittner Check if DNS Resolver is set to listen on the new interface.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@wayneflittner Restart unbound/DNS then? If you can ping by IP that implies it's a DNS issue. Test that with nslookup/dig. If that works post your firewall rule.

@SteveITS when you say "Restart unbound DNS" do you mean I need to restart the router itself? I agree it's a DNS issue however I apologize I'm not sure how to test with nslookup/dig. Is this a command line function?

@wayneflittner That reboot of the DNS resolver fixed the problem. Thanks again for your time and help. Again I am sorry I am not as knowledgeable as you and didn't know what the nslookup/dig was. I still don't but I am going to google that as soon as I get some time to learn. Appreciate your time.

@wayneflittner You're welcome. Presumably it had not seen/attached to the new interface.

Run "nslookup netgate.com" at a command line to do a DNS lookup.
