In all of the years that I've been using pfSense, I've maintained a VM running the development snapshot. I don't remember any time when the development snapshot was not available for such a long time.

Does anyone have an idea when it will be available?

I think when plus 24.03 goes into the Release Candidate phase. I also don’t understand why Netgate stopped distributing the plus version for free, but at the same time, all testing takes place in the plus version.

Me also as well...just for kicks, I updated from console and got this below...wondered what that means? Maybe it just pulled in FreeBSD packages...

@NollipfSense That's interesting. I tried updating from the console and it said my system was up to date. In System / Update / Branch, the only available branch is release.

@bimmerdriver I could never select any update branch...just blank...that's why I tried console.

It shows that error because currently there is no public 2.8 branch. When it becomes public again it will appear as a branch and be updatable in the webgui.

I thought the release of 2.8.0 would be combined with the release of plus 24.03, but plus 24.03 has already been released, and 2.8.0 still doesn’t even have test builds. Is there any information when the community will be able to test 2.8.0?

Not yet. 2.8 is not tied to any particular Plus release.

It feels like CE 2.8 will never come out

A very useful feature that has already been implemented for half a year

but there is no way to use it. Very disappointing.

Hmm, you probably could get that with a patch. Though it requires more that just that commit id onto 2.7.2.

I most likely don't have enough knowledge to do this. I'll wait for the CE 2.8 snapshot ;)

Have CE as snapshot again would be awesome!
