    Hi,

I love pfBlockerNG on my Netgate 2100 as it's tremendously effective, except however with adverts within Microsoft Store apps, the one I use the most that is an offender is the Windows 11 (and Windows 10) Microsoft/MSN Weather app.

The ads are still appearing here. I've had a look at the IP addresses it's calling in Resource Manager and it looks like it's calling a Facebook IP. This particular thing isn't my speciality though, so can any body tell me how to configure pfBlockerNG to also block ads in these apps?

    Many thanks all.

@MikeHalsey Are you blocking DoH/DoT? The app/browser may circumvent DNS.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@SteveITS Hi, pfBlockerNG is all set to default config. It blocks everything perfectly well in browsers, but I thought it was supposed to block the specific IPs of the advertisers. Surely this would mean it would block those IPs everywhere, in apps and other places, in addition to web browsers?

Or do I have it wrong?

        Thanks πŸ€”πŸ™‚

@MikeHalsey if they are using pfSense for DNS. There’s a checkbox to block DoH servers in the DNSBL settings.

              What are your blocklists?

I have a few that have been blocking a lot of Windows tracking/adverts, so far it's been working great at blocking.
