I hav had pfsense up and running for a while, and I have been able to stay connected via vpn from home office no problem.

then one day I get a error that says cert has expired , I went and renewed the cert that is self signed

but when I try to connect from my home office , it still says cert has expired any help ??

You have to export the new client cert from pfSense and import it on the client.

On Windows this only succeed for me if I also imported the private key again. I.e. you have to export a PKCS12 archive from pfSense.
Also I had to remove the old cert before importing the new one.
