iSCSI connection between LAN and VLAN keeps dropping
-
Hi everyone!
As stated in my title, the connection between my iSCSI target (a TrueNAS disk) and my PC (Win10) keeps dropping when transfering large files or doing backups. However, this only occurs if the PC and the TrueNAS server are on different subnets. If I plug the PC into the VLAN network (192.168.210.1/24) where the server is located, backups work fine. However, if they are on different networks, the file copy performance will peak shortly, then drop after 4-10 minutes. TrueNAS just shows "connection lost: NOP". I've looked into asymmetric routing and enabled the "automatic fix" shown in this tutorial:
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/asymmetric-routing.html
however that does not help. I'm thinking it's the firewall, but as of now, I am absolutely out of ideas. The same issue occurs with SMB shares. Any way to fix this? I don't want to keep my PC plugged into the server subnet as I think it's a security risk.In short: Can access iSCSI drive and copy just fine on the same network, but not if the PC and the server are on different subnets.
I followed this setup guide to create the VLANs on my Netgate 2100.

@JKL213 said in iSCSI connection between LAN and VLAN keeps dropping:
but not if the PC and the server are on different subnets.
According to that network parts you should set up routes
Matching to the routes you should set up firewall rules
And on top if the VLANs are set up on a switch you should set up ACL´s -
@Dobby_ I thought routes were automatically created for VLAN subnets?
