How can I just get one email notification for forum posts???

Currently if someone replies to a thread I started I’ll get an email notification because I am following that thread, another because I posted in that thread, another if they mentioned me in their post and another because I have new notifications. This is crazy. I want to get notified if someone replies in a thread I follow and I want to get notified if I’m tagged but I don’t need to get multiple notifications because I’m tagged in a thread I’m already following and don’t need to be notified of notifications I’ve already received. Disabling all notifications isn’t a fix but I’m not sure what is???

Yes, I understand that but I was hoping to be able to get a notification if I was tagged without having to get multiple notifications if it's all a topic I am already following. If I configure to get a notification for all the events I would like to get notified about I could get at least 4 emails all for the same post as I described above. Isn't it possible to limit notifications to a single post to just one? My inbox gets flooded if there's a lot of back and forth posts.
