      Push what to where ?

      A captive portal is normally, from the vistors point of view, a 'public' network so ask yourself : are your portal users willing to give private info, like an email addresses ?

      Edit : and where are the logs ??

        @Gertjan maybe my question was wrong. i will try to explain more variosly.
        So i have pf with properly working captive portal on it, then i want to send to each client connected via captive portal to my network (wireless, wired) any custom notification, (push notifications) like any social network sends their news anouncements to their users. is it real?

          @andreychernik999

          As soon as a captive portal user has authenticated, the IP and MAC of the device he uses are whitelisted.
          From this moment on, its like the portal doesn't exist anymore.
          Easy to simulate : de active the portal on your portal network : it becomes just a LAN as the other LANs with the only restrictions : your (portal) network firewall rules.

          Btw : nothing is never pushed to a device. That's what the public thinks.
          A device contains a app, like for example, the gmail app, and this app re opens a connection to gmail servers as soon as it detected a working Internet connection. This connection is kept open. It's this connection, initiated by the app, that permits gmail to send you a notification.

              Not something you can do on pfSense.
              And not an issue neither.

              As soon as devices are connected and authenticated against the captive portal, everything works as if there was no captive portal.
              So gmail, whatsapp, telegram and everything else just plain works.
