      Re: PFBLOCKERNG DNSBL update failing

      Hello,
Is anyone else encountering or have insight on this issue with PFBlocker timing out on multiple Block List updates?

      Any help is greatly appreciated.

            This :

isn't a good thing to do.
            I say this because :
These list don't change very often.
Still, you want to update them every hour ? (Why ?)
Now, imagine that there are 1 million pfSense users, and many of them use pFblocker, and 'some' of them also use MaxiMind. Btw : you have a valid license, right ? It's free, but you still have to obtain an access key.
Result : the MaxiMind servers will get hit really, extremely, hard .... and as bandwidth costs loads money, they started to filter for 'abuse'. See their usage conditions.

I'm not Maximind, I don't know what they do, how they do it. I know what I would to to protect my resources, especially when it doesn't make any money.
My advise : lower the download frequency. Ones a day, or even less, will be just fine.

@Gertjan You're absolutely right. Yes, I do have a Maxmind account. I set it up a while ago and I believe just left it at defaults. I will change the frequency. Thanks for catching this. Maybe this is the issue -- they're throttling access since it's not updated very often.
