      I'm migrating a configuration from old hardware with passed through igb NIC to new hardware with igc NIC. This worked well with the last beta but fails with the 2.8.0 RC

      In more detail, when restoring a configuration file to a new machine, pfsense prompts to re assign interfaces.

      • In Interface Assignments tab initially appears OK. Parent interfaces all set to 1st NIC,
      • In VLAN tab set then save each parent interface. (this appears to work)
      • Then in Interface Assignments tab all interfaces set to 1st NIC (unlike the last beta). Manually set all interfaces to appropriate NIC or VLAN. Then save.
      • Click apply -> restart
      • Console shows assignment not done as still looking for igb NIC. (a bug which didn't occur in the last beta)
      • Choosing to skip VLAN set up then tries to assign all interfaces including VLAN

      Edit
      Not sure if it is relevant but I use a Proxmox v8.4.1 VM with BIOS OVMF (UEFI), Machine: 35

        Then in Interface Assignments tab all interfaces set to 1st NIC

        I wasn't able to reproduce this issue. Once the VLAN assignment is updated, the interface assignment is updated as well. This sounds more like something was preventing configuration changes from being saved which would explain the prompt to reassign VLANs. I'm not aware of any changes in this area between the BETA and RC so I'd expect the behavior to be the same on both. If there's indeed an issue it's likely existed for a while.

          @Patch Did you change the number of interfaces?

          Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
          When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

            @SteveITS no same number of passed through NIC but pfsence did get confused initially and showed I had an unassigned so could create another interface.
