Aliases with FQDN not working in 2.8.0-RC
-
I recently upgraded to 2.8.0-RC and I now have problems when using an Alias with a FQDN.
I also got an error message about the resolve_alias() function although it seems pretty random and not helpful ->
PHP Errors:
[26-May-2025 14:34:02 Europe/Vienna] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function resolve_alias() in Command line code:1
Stack trace:
#0 {main}
thrown in Command line code on line 1
For context I use a conventional setup with unbound and have external resolve disable completely.
When I use the command "pfctl -s Table" I can see my newley created alias, but when I try to have a look at the store ip's it get nothing in return pfctl -t Test_Route -T show. This is not the case for already existing lists that only contain IPs. For some mixed lists that were created before (version 2.7.2) it still works but not for all of them.For testing I added a single domain to the Test_Route Alias
Using the shell I can say that it is not updating the IP addresses based on the Alias

@belnen If you "killall filterdns" and Status>Filter Reload does it then work? (or, I suppose, reboot pfSense)

@SteveITS
No rebooting does not fix it I ofcourse tried that. -
@SteveITS I also tried you command unfortunately nothing changed.
-
@belnen Did you try the released version of 2.8?
-
@SteveITS Yes I did try but nothing changed. I even tried reinstalling it from scratch and importing my backup....
-
@belnen did you put the alias in a rule?
