      Hello,

      Good day,

Just to ask, and get some opinion with advice. We have multiple branches using the pfSense Firewall by Netgate, and all is working.
My questions are, what is the best practice to maintain the configuration of the firewall, never add new configuration while the Firewall is running, or can the configuration settings be changed while the firewall is attached to the network?

      Thank you

@chris-doldolia Hello! You can safely make configuration changes on a running pfSense firewall, it's designed for that. Most settings apply immediately without needing a reboot, though some services (like IPsec, OpenVPN, or interface changes) may briefly interrupt traffic when restarted. Just make sure you have console or alternate access in case something goes wrong.
