OVPN & Google search results showing wrong location
-
Hello. I know this topic does not seem like a VPN issue, but I have a weird situation that I am not able to resolve.
**Situation: My tenant in the apartment and myself remotely connecting via OpenVPN are getting our google search results showing in Cabo, Mexico.
**Background: I have a client OpenVPN set up on my phone and home computer to remote into the negate appliance (4200) for management. I also use the OVPN for secure internet while traveling. Yes, I was in Cabo for week and when I got back home my tenant was complaining about their search results. I did not make any revisions to the firewall while out of the country--just secure connection usage. Public WAN on the router is showing correctly for my ISP. DNS servers are provided by ISP.
**Assessment: Since I connected to the OVPN while in Cabo, the coincidence of this situation leads me to believe it's connected in some way. I have since made multiple attempts to get this resolved, but unsure how to fix this. asked the tenant to check their browser settings, clear history, and reboot. Reset the states twice and with 24 hours in between. rebooted twice. removed the DNS servers from OVPN (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8). removed the custom DNS servers (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8). I have been able to replicate the issue on my end via OVPN connection. I have clicked the "use precise location" at the bottom of Google search results page. This will reset it correctly, but after a reboot of my laptop, I am right back in Cabo again.
**Request: well... I need some more suggestions. I have not tried taking down the OVPN server because I would lose my connection. I can get to the apartment easily, so this is an option.
If I missed any information that would be helpful, please ask. I can provide screenshots or more data.
I had a great time in Cabo, but I definitely don't want this to happen again!-James
