Poor desicion

Your decision of locking the thread was poor. You should of consider kicking out nimrod of the chat instead of just locking it. Since he was the disgruntled user creating all the commotions, This is a lack of common sense on your part. You just supported an annoying brad in the forums which I am sure that is not the only thread he created discomforts and arguments.
Adding to that a response was in its way to a user that provided some useful information. Next time, ready, think, analyze and finally take action.
Very poor!

Remaining entirely neutral here...there does appear to be some truth to that in fact.
The mileage on the @nimrod user account appears (lately?) to be 99% concerned with rebuttals on this singular issue of the ISO. I hadn't noticed this before but it's there for all to see.

@g405tsh311 The thread was locked because the Netgate folks don't like people busting their balls about the ISO issue. They're tired of Chinese hardware vendors pumping out mini-pcs with pfSense preinstalled so removing the latest ISO makes it a bit more difficult for those vendors. Unfortunately, it also makes it more difficult for everyone else. You aren't the first to complain and you won't be the last.
-
I don't mind discussing it but I don't want to have to read threads that degenerate into a pointless shouting match. Nothing worthwhile can come from that.
-
Hi @KOM,
Yes, I am aware of that but, I am unsure if that holds any truth on preventing from happening, as there are many work arounds for the Chinese to get around the ISO limitation for selling their own devices.
On the other hand, it is not difference than Dell and HP selling laptops with Linux preinstalled. Adding to it, netgate uses FreeBSD as their base operating system.
Just making a point on the ISO decision, that is all.
Thanks for the info though.

Agreed.
But unfortunately by locking the thread you supported his behavior by complying with his demands and punish innocents as well as guiltiest. As I said before, you should of ban him from the thread.Everyone was going along until that point.
-
Well I agree it may have appeared that way but any thread that gets into that state should be locked IMO. It's hard to recover civility after insults are thrown.
Anyway I am open to discussion of the actual issue that an off-line installer is not available for the current CE version. I (we) understand that it's an issue for some users. Potentially quite a lot of users. This is not something that was easily or quickly decided. But from Netgate's point of view something had to change. This was the least disruptive at the time. Other options may be possible. Ultimately it's not my decision of course.

This is my final note since it seem you will always look at this as an endpoint.
It doesn't appear, it actually is, the facts are the facts.
Still, moderator usually have a way to remove posts and ban single users, not just the entire herd, or at least the ones use. Perhaps those are more advance, or perhaps netgate forums lack that functionality.
I never said negate took this issue lightly, I was just looking for some feedback. I have seen this process many times and for the looks of it, pfsense CE is very much in maintenance mode. Just because netgate wants to be politically correct does not mean it is not. The fact are there and they are fallowing the same path as others did.
Again, this subject is just becoming redundant and it is affecting other users in the forum.
