      Hi folks,

So I manage some Virtualised Infrastructures for some clients, however I attempted a Upgrade from 2.7.2 to 2.8.1 which went well up until after the upgrade, the LAN when using Host Networking on XCP-ng stops working, WAN works via console can get internet but when accessing the pfSense GUI or pinging from a client machine to the LAN side it just times out.

I have tested on various systems with Broadcom and Intel Network Cards and the same problem persist, eth0 assigned to WAN, eth1 assigned to LAN via XCP-ng Host Networking in Xen Orchestra to the switch, 2.7.2 has never been a issue, I have also tested on a fresh install same problem persists however via Console i assign the LAN IP Address but no ping no nothing not even if i connect direct to a workstation. Would anyone have any ideas? this problem has only occurred during 2.8. I have tried with and without guest tools no difference, had to revert back to 2.7.2 which isn't ideal really.

      Regards

How does pfSense sees those interfaces? Is only the LAN and virtual NIC type in that setup?

@stephenw10 LAN / WAN gets seen as xn0 & xn1 when using Host Networking, both interfaces have TX checksumming disabled.

Hmm, curious. Do you see any traffic in a pcap?

@stephenw10 thanks for your reply, what is the best way to do a pcap in shell ? As I have no access over LAN to the GUI in 2.8.1.

              Regards

@stephenw10 Thanks for the link, I attempted a update from 2.7.2 to 2.8.1 and this time it seems to be working, updating didn't reproduce the issue. I will do some further testing and see if I can re-produce the problem then report back.

                  Regards
