it seems all posts about this issue are old so i wanted to ask again.

i currently have a working system wth squid and all is ok except for some weird problems.
      this is with version 1.2.3-Release

Now i want to add CP to the mix on the lan interface.

      will it work?

i did some research on this… apparently if CP is on squid is bypassed

i enabled opt1 and setup cp on that. i up a tail for /var/squid/log/access.log and when i am logged in via cp nothing in the access log gets recorded
when i disable CP and use the net via the lan normally then the access.log file works with activity

how can we redirect a successful login for the CP to be redirected to use Squid >>???

        pls help!

((now that i think about it, i think we need to have squid listen on the opt1 interface as well... but only after users are authenticated))
so would a firewall rule to redirect successful logins to the lan subnet work? even though i tried that i still am getting it

is this possible or i am shooting in the dark?

          UPDATE: I DID IT.
          ITS NOW WORKING

thanks to all who didnt participate.

it was so simple i cant believe i missed it!!!

basically i added the opt1 interface to the proxy server list from the gui

          Now; question 2 arises.
There is a speed limit option for CP users. well the passthrough users for mac address. dont they get full speed?
how can we let them get full speed and not the speed limit specified?

also, would it be possible in the future to allow all users to have their own assigned speed?

          :)

Future will tell if that's the whole story for your setup. Are you using transparent? I cannot seem to get both CP and Squid working and sometime I have got it to work sort of once and not more etc. I have an upgraded system with quite a few packages so there may be other variables involved. Let us know if you experience any more problems or oddities.

            Cheers,
