hi guys. i have 2 quick questions for u.

      1. is there any software that can gather firewall logs from pfsense? so that i can view events by source or by interface?

      also

      1. is it possible to add firewall rule using domain name instead of ip address. because i need to connect to remote servers that do not have static ip addresses.

      thnx in advance

        1. You can redirect the firewall logs to another server by using syslog, but they are also displayed in the GUI at Status > System Logs, on the Firewall tab. If you have the Dashboard package installed, there is a 'filter' box at the bottom of the page which can be used to search the current log contents.

        2. No, not in pfSense 1.2.3. In 2.0 you will be able to use hostnames in aliases, but 2.0 is still in beta.

          9:17PMĀ  up 14 days, 21:17, 2 users, load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00#Ā  9:17PMĀ  up 14 days, 21:17, 2 users, load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

One is probably the console (keyboard/video, or serial) logged in and sitting at the menu.

The other is probably the interactive session you're using.
