No internet access from VLAN

  • Hello,

I've added a VLAN (VID 1), dhcp is enabled and the client gets the correct IP, but the client has no internet access, so I guess this is a firewall problem.
I've added this rule for VLAN 1:

And these are my WAN rules (default pfsense rules)

Do I maybe have to add a rule to the WAN interface?

    I'm using pfsense 1.2.3.

Thank you very much for any hint!

  • found the problem, "Automatic outbound NAT rule generation" was disabled, had to add a mapping for the vlan subnet.

  • Have the same problem. Could you please show me how you did the mapping for the vlan?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I am using Pfsense 1.2.3 with squid, squidguard and snort.

My network is also based on vlan.  What I did was,

    1. I selected - Manual Outbound NAT rule generation (Advanced Outbound NAT (AON)) - in
      Firewall: NAT: Outbound

    2. I created static route for each vlan networks to the Physical network (LAN). (I think this is optional because I have L3 switch before Pfsense which routes all vlans to LAN network.)

This info may be useful to you.

    hello hacktivist,

    it should look like this:

1,2,3 are the real lan or vlan, doesn't matter. just add a mapping for each of your vlans - it's only done automatically for the real lan. hope that helps you!

  • Finally got it working.

Thanks for your help and regards
