Make nanobsd version use screen and keyboard?
-
Hi
I am installing pfsense on a 512 MB CF card with IDE adapter, using pfSense-1.2.3-RELEASE-512mb-nanobsd.img.gz
It is an old PC, so it would be nice to have the ability to use monitor and keyboard. Is it possible to change this in pfsense, so that it outputs to VGA and i can use directly connected keyboard?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,

The current version of NanoBSD images do not have VGA in the kernel at all; They cannot be made to use screen/keyboard.

Is it possible to make 1.2.2 embedded output to screen?

I'm fairly certain it is the same in that regard. If you want screen output, you need to use a full install.

Okay, but then I cannot install it on a CF, correct?

You can, but you run the risk of wearing it out.

Glad I came back in here to check on the new version before getting a new CF card.
I did manage to get 1.2.2 installed previously, embedded WITH vga output on a CF card…took the system out of use for awhile but was about to put back into action. Hacom has downloads that include it, not sure but that may have been what I used.
Hopefully something similar will work for the 1.2.3 versions. Hope this helps

Updating this thread since it comes up high in Google results - 2.0 release and later now are released including nanobsd VGA versions.
