New "corporate" WebGUI theme
-
Hey guys (and gals),
As I sometimes use pfSense in a commercial context, I wanted a clean, more 'corporate' theme for my webgui. I tweaked the original metallic theme and I'm pretty happy with the results, so I thought I would share it with all of you.
The theme can be downloaded here :
http://www.exosecurity.com/corporate-theme.zip
http://www.exosecurity.com/corporate-theme.tar.gzTo install :
IMPORTANT: If the command execution starts timing-out, you might have to restart your WebConfigurator. Having SSH/Console access to your box prior to executing these steps might be a good idea.
1. Go to your firewall's web interface
2. Go to the "Diagnostics" menu and select "Command"
3. In the "Command" field, enter the text below :
fetch -o /usr/local/www/themes/corporate-theme.tar.gz http://www.exosecurity.com/corporate-theme.tar.gz4. Execute the command
5. In the same field enter and execute the command below :
tar -xvvzf /usr/local/www/themes/corporate-theme.tar.gz -C /usr/local/www/themes/6. Finally, clean up with this command :
rm -f /usr/local/www/themes/corporate-theme.tar.gz7. In the "System" menu under "General Setup", select the "corporate" theme from the themes menu.
Enjoy!
Guillaume

I am having trouble installing this theme. I issued the commands stated above, and everything went ok. However when I go to select the theme under 'General Setup', it is not there in the drop down list. Just the normal three themes are there. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. The problem is in step 5.
5\. In the same field enter and execute the command below : tar -xzvf /usr/local/www/themes/corporate-theme.tar.gz
So what i did was to log in to the shell and executed:
cd /usr/local/www/themes tar -xzvf corporate-theme.tar.gz
That worked for me anyway.
-
that took care of it for me. Thanks!
-
i was really missing this kind of theme :)
thanks a lot!!!

Would like to get a final version of this theme so I can add this as a package.
-
Maybe with even some more changed graphics? ::)
-
I really like this theme. However, imo, the biglogo on the system page….it's a bit too big ;).
-
for all of those having probs, use this for untar:
tar -xvvzf /usr/local/www/themes/corporate-theme.tar.gz -C /usr/local/www/themes/ -

I would agree. The logo really can be removed from that page, its almost too much.
Also, you seem to be using the old brown pfSense version of the logo. Can you swap the logos and replace the one at the top with the one on the main page?
Otherwise I am ready to make a package for this theme.. Just waiting for a final version or a "go ahead".

The 'system' biglogo should not appear (see the screenshot from my first post).
edited 5 minutes later
Yes, thats the thing. I had fixed it on my box but forgot to update the file :/ There needs to be a file named no_big_logo at the root of the theme folder (i.e. /usr/local/www/themes/corporate/) . This gets rid of the big thing. I never planned to have it there, just forgot to commit.
I've updated the theme accordingly. Same URL.
Of course, if you're lazy, executing :
touch /usr/local/www/themes/corporate/no_big_logo
in the command interface, should do fine.
As for the Internet Explorer 7 bug that was recently reported, I'm going to try to fix it as soon as possible. I haven't been able to install IE7 so far and am not planning to have this done for another few days.
Scott, about using the old logo, I wasn't aware. However, the 'biglogo' on the system page is blurred and difficult to manipulate as a JPEG, I'm afraid its going to look bad. Can I maybe have the PSD?
Thanks-

ps. changed step 5 from my original post according to your comments

Okay I'll apply those changes and send it to you. But what logo are we talking about? The one in the top banner?
The 'system' biglogo should not appear (see the screenshot from my first post).

Hmm I have the biglogo on the system page. Although I just compared the the md5 of the corporate-theme.tar.gz I have to the one I just downloaded and the're different. So maybe I probably have an earlier version.
