How to shape non transparent squid traffic?
-
is it possible shape non transparent squid traffic?
-
Not unless squid is running on another server and not pfSense.Ā :)
The same limits are in effect no matter how you run squid on pfSense, at least on 1.2.x.
-
hmmm,no any chance?is it possibleĀ on 2.0 latest snap?
-
No, no chance.
I don't think shaping works that way on 2.0 even, but it has a better chance of it since the floating rules will match traffic a bit differently.
Squid does have its own limiters though that should let you do some things.

I have 2Ā PF 1.2.3 installsĀ each has it's own Wan connection and different IP's 1/4 mile apart The OPT1 Interface is configured as a static route between the 2 systems.
Could I run a Proxy ( Squid ) on 1 PF box and have users on the other PF box use the proxy through the static route? -
You can shape squid on 2.0.
You can use limiters or you can shape only one side of the squid connection(download) on the LAN side with queues. -
thanks for your reply ermal, any documentation about new shaper?
